How To Laminate and Cut Bookmarks with Silhouette Studio Easily

Print and cut is one of my biggest craft addictions. I can do it all day ,everyday. It wasn’t always easy for me,but I kept trying and trying until I got what I wanted: my images  cut out  perfectly for me.

Maybe that’s not in your case,so today I want to show you what I do in my Silhouette Software to achieve cutting success.

I am going to make a  laminated bookmark and I have to prepare it  first in m Silhouette Studio. So here we go! Follow along.

Here I have my image. I will add offset around it

by selecting it and open the Offset panel.

After I click on the Offset Star, the extra line will form around my image. Yes!,we are on our way, guys!

-----

Now let’s add text to or image. (See pictures below)

1. On the left of your mat is the Text . Write your Text down and head over to the left to Edit your Font

2. Fill your Text with Color

3. Add  2 plies of Offset to your Text (0ne by One) and fill them with color too.

4. Grab the text by the green dot and rotate it  and place it beside the image. Group everything together  in place.

----

Apply Registration marks by going to the Page Setup panel ,by selecting On .

Your registration marks will appear.  Now your image is safe to be printed out.

Note: After you print out the umage ,you may not touch it again,if you do you might remove it from the place that it was registered at with the registration marks, resulting in a failed project.

This is my print out.  I am using REGULAR COPY PAPER for this project.

The registration marks are shown here in the 3 corners .

Your Cutting machine, in this case Silhouette Cameo ,will read these registration marks to know where to start cutting.

This is brand of laminating paper I am using. Scotch Thermal

---Scotch laminating pouches

This laminating machine is quick and easy to use. After it heats up you slide your pouches into the back. And there is your laminated page! Don’t forget: we’re using REGULAR COPY PAPER for this project.

In this printing and cutting project, the  laminating part of your paper doesn’t count. You will align your paper exactly as it is in your computer. The white paper  is what will count here. We will treat the white paper as if it were not laminated. 🙂

When you align the white part of your work exactly with the mat,the censor will be able to find your registration mark really quick and on the right place.

My cutting machine is a Cameo 3,a 6 year old machine, lol. But it cuts amazing.

You can also use the Silhouette Cameo 4 or any other  Silhouette cutting machine.

I used the Ratchet blade for  this project, because it’s sturdy and robust enough to cut through the laminated paper.

Now, it’s time to cut out the design.

Upload the mat into the machine. Make sure that the mat is aligned with the  small blue line , and under the small white rollers (on both sides)

---

Here are the cut settings that I used:

Cut  Edge

– I used the Ratchet Blade (the black one)

– In the Software you set the blade to Mannual Blade 2 mm

Blade depth:8

Force: 33

Speed :1

Passes: 4

After you have adjusted your cut settings, you can now send your cut job to the Silhouette Cameo cutting machine. Let the cutting begin.
